Day 001: Hundred-Day Challenge Kick-Off
Kicking off a 100-day writing challenge, with breaks on weekends.
Today, I start a one-hundred day writing challenge. I’ll publish 100 short pieces or videos, but will take weekends off. The event was conceived by Jibran el Bazi. Thank you, Jibran, and thanks to @MadeInCosmos for inviting me!
I’ve been publishing weekly(more or less) at Things That Should Exist since August 25th.
Recently, I had the realization that, if TTSE was to ever be profitable, I needed to publish more often. I’ve maintained a steady three posts per month.
While the newsletter has grown from 30 to 70 subscribers in that time, I seek to give it a fighting chance at being profitable by publishing more often. My goal is for TTSE to someday provide me with a full-time income.
I posted about this on Twitter, here’s a thread:
I’m doing this one hundred-day writing challenge as a way to ship more writing. Numerous famous authors were journalists before they were novelists–the same thinking applies here.
I’m going to use this challenge as a way to build the muscle of writing and shipping something every day.
It worked for Matt Levine, no?
Alright, well, I’ve just about hit my word count (200 words), so it’s time to ship.
Before I go, here are some topics I’ll be writing about here:
What is "living in community"?
The loneliness epidemic, and homesteading
Self-Care of what, why, and how to care for yourself when medical system isn’t resolving personal health issues.
"Cost of Working" and "Shift-posting"
Key Ingredients for Becoming a Homesteader
I like to share memes in my newsletters. Here’s one from this week.
Alright Alex, you got this!
